Self Management of Excessive Tension (SMET) - a Yoga Technique
| Self
Management of Excessive Tension (SMET) is a special yoga technique that
tunes our bio-rhythm to its natural tranquil state. In the
process of fine-tuning, imbalances arising from stressful lifestyle are
addressed while associated physical symptoms are relieved if not
eliminated over time. objectives You will be able to:
The fast, sensitive, sharp mind of modern man in thriving for a good life is demanding its physical system to cope with the rush. While good stress is essential to motivate growth, fast-paced living constantly stimulates and conditions us to be ‘in the rush’ or ‘under pressure’ and this leaves no time for our innate ability to achieve a restful state. Habitual stimulations trigger internal imbalances, which percolate as mental, physical and psychological tension. Left unchecked, persistent tension then manifests as various physical symptoms. Paradoxically, physical symptoms deteriorate quality of life - the very subject man tries to improve in the beginning. Some of the common physical symptoms are high blood pressure, diabetes, allergies, insomnia, body aches, fatigues, indigestion, worrisome thoughts, menstrual disorders, migraine headaches, irritability and asthma. In SMET, a repetitive series of conscious stimulation and relaxation exercises are introduced, with awareness of breaths and body sensations. Successive stimulations and relaxations one after the other help to release stress at deeper levels of mind and body. The benefits of regular SMET practice over time are relaxation of body, slowing down of the breath, calming down of the mind and sensitization of self-awareness. Combined with a holistic lifestyle, SMET brings about inner harmony and the realisation of a blissful state of being. who could attend Suitable for all ages above 15 |
