Wisdom
Finding
Oneself Through Nature
Of all the senses, physical touch plays the primordial role in connecting us with the world. It has been a well known fact that babies place in their mother’s fold after birth has a more healthy psychological attitude in later part of their lives compared to those separated after birth. Touch heals. Holding someone’s hand is a sure sign of comfort in difficult times. What about Nature touching us? Do we response positively to Nature’s touch? You betcha. Giving yourself a dip in a stream brings vigor to your state of mind and body. Fresh air instills clarity. Hugging a tree too brings deep connection to Mother Nature around you. Talk silently with a tree – not with the usual chattering mind, but with the stillness within you – and you will be amazed how easily you are able to connect with your calmness. Tree Wisdom is another Clove&Clive's free publication – with generous tree-hugging images coupled with wise quotations related to Trees and Nature. In this book you will also find evocative verses for reflection concerning nature and you, through the journey of mindfulness. If you find this work in line with your life vision, do consider supporting our publication to make the book accessible to the public.
Excerpt from Preface Mindfulness offers a new way of being, enabling me to see what Nature is offering me in life rather than the “me” interfering Life. Living in this new way can be challenged by the day to day involvement of life where the touch and go mentality of surviving takes precedent over appreciating what comes to my life. Paradoxically, to stay complex is much easier than to stay simple. To see everything as nature and take time off to be close to Nature reminds us all to slow down, to live and let live. There are only two positions you have, either a conscious living or an unconscious living. The former brings joy to life, and the latter deadness. As Albert Einstein puts it “There are only two positions you can take, either you believe that nothing is a miracle, or you believe that everything in life is a miracle.” Dedicate time off to be with Mother Nature, to fully be present to the life given to you, and to see each and every lesson that comes to you as a signpost of divine, of an opportunity to see your own majesty. Inner Flap Observe the chaos of Nature in the forest – trees outdoing one another with their heights and sizes, and with their mighty roots and hefty leaves – each tree expressing beautifully and independently their own unique fitness and majesty in the pursuit for survival and growth. And yet in the midst of that chaos, is found a sense of order and respect, pervading each and every existence around it. Listen to that order – of stillness and of peace. Allow that silence to magnify the inner chattering that is already on-going in the mind. Instead of trying the impossible of quietening the mind, let the stillness be a witness to the dance of thoughts, of emotions, as they take their own natural course of ceasing. And let your heart be gladdened and be opened to that dance. The way of mindful living is simply this – giving wise attention to everything with non-resistance and holding on. This is Peace. Just as this book found its way to you, may you too find your way to Nature, to Freedom and to Peace. Back cover Nature, when we watch it quietly in our own stillness, teaches us many lessons, shares with us many inspirations and messages. When we are able to stop, and just consciously observe how a tree could grow so tall, so beautifully, magnificently on its own, and yet derives at its own simplicity and uniqueness by simply allowing to the sway of Nature; you’d probably start to notice how we too, had immersed in that stillness; similar of a tree, of in nature; in mindfulness. This book has been inspirationally created to encourage us to connect with the very Nature within us, that has always been there. The very freedom and peace that we had always thought was out there, had indeed always been available to us, within… We invite you to fully immerse yourself in the beautiful contents of this book, because – as you lose yourself, you find yourself. |
